Introduction
Carbon markets are growing fast, but trust remains the missing currency.
Blue carbon projects—such as mangrove restoration—have huge potential for climate impact. But traditional carbon markets face problems: opaque methodologies, weak oversight, and low-quality offsets that undermine credibility. An ESG focused startup in Singapore set out to change this. With Verity, they envisioned a digital platform that would make carbon credits transparent, traceable, and verifiable from end to end. To get there, they needed deep expertise in blockchain, Web3, and scalable product development.

The challenge
Digitising the full carbon project lifecycle while meeting global standards.
The company’s ambition was to create a platform that could handle everything: land usage registries, measurement and reporting (MRV), and issuance of carbon credits. But the barriers were steep. They needed to prove feasibility with a prototype, validate through real users, and then build a production-ready system robust enough to comply with three of the industry’s strictest standards—Verra, ACCU, and Gold Standard. Achieving all three at once had never been done before.

The solution
Blockchain infrastructure, elastic teams, and user-driven design.
MISSION+ partnered with the startup from the concept stage onward. A CTO with blockchain expertise led discovery and rapid prototyping, supported by user testing and customer interviews to shape the MVP. On the technical side, we built a blockchain registry leveraging Polygon smart contracts, Filecoin/IPFS for decentralized file storage, and encryption for secure access control. A cloud-native, serverless backend on AWS provided the scalability and cost efficiency needed.To support on-the-ground operations, Flutter engineers developed ruggedized mobile apps for field teams to collect data in remote environments. A flexible, elastic engineering squad scaled up and down with business needs, ensuring fast iteration and resilience as the product evolved.

Together, we delivered the first platform to fully digitise MRV processes in compliance with all three leading certification standards. That compliance unlocked real business value: the startup can now trade blue carbon credits at a premium, selling for 1.5–3x more than traditional green credits.Operational efficiency also improved dramatically.
