13 DEC, SINGAPORE: MISSION+ – a technology building firm sought out by the likes of Revolut, Railsr and Draper Startup House – has gained Ned Lowe as the company’s Chief Technology Officer as it accelerates its efforts to support fintechs and insurtechs across Southeast Asia.

“The delta between what’s possible in tech and what’s brought to market is growing wider daily.  After over 20 years of building solutions for finance and insurance companies, I’ve noticed patterns and processes that predict success – I want to put these in the hands of founders so their solutions have every opportunity to succeed in the real world. My mission is to spread the word that building software can be done differently,” said Ned Lowe, CTO at MISSION+.

Ned Lowe joins MISSION+ after spending the last two decades building the technology capabilities for global and Southeast Asian insurtechs and fintechs.

He was previously the Head of Engineering at Singlife with Aviva, where he oversaw the direction and strategy for Singlife’s application tech stack.  Prior to the Aviva Singapore merger, Ned was the Chief Technology Officer of Singlife.

The technological progress across data architecture and AI development alone are staggering, but filtering down to implemented solutions continues to be an ongoing challenge. Southeast Asia’s fragmented landscape makes it difficult for startups to build solutions for legacy industries like finance and insurance, where different regulatory and operating environments add to the complexity of getting to market.

Under his leadership, MISSION+ will double down on the fintech and insurtech vertical by focusing on new ways to drive the reinvention of technology-anchored companies. Ned will introduce a number of key initiatives to support the adoption of solutions across these sectors, such as a newly launched financial services integration business for MISSION+’s key infrastructure and payments clients and other data processing techniques for insurance companies.

Ned will also be focused on helping emerging companies access niche talent via a new part-time CTO program to launch in 2023.

Nick Martin, CEO at MISSION+ said: “We’ve gained a great asset with the introduction of Ned into our leadership team. More than ever, startup founders are looking for someone who understands the complexities around building tech specific to Southeast Asia’s insurance and financial services sector. It’s a challenge that requires a deep understanding of regulatory hurdles, technical feasibility and a multi-market talent strategy to get solutions to market. Ned is already sought out by the market for delivering on this front and is the first of a number of senior hires we are making to enhance MISSION+’s ability to support startups on this.”

MISSION+ has been behind the development of more than 30 technology solutions from Southeast Asia across eCommerce, logistics and shipping, web3, ESG and sustainability, fintech and insurtech.

The team does this by working closely with founders to identify the hurdles in their technology development and then finding the right internal or external talent with skillsets to approach the challenge. MISSION+ have built MVPs (minimum viable product) for startups and technology prototypes for corporates who have adopted new ventures as part of their growth strategy.

Today, MISSION+ offers over 100 designers, developers and solutions architects to startups, scale-ups and corporates to support their technology-building needs.
